Petra is one of the most unique places on Earth and a highly sought-after destination in Jordan that has been described as a city lost for over a thousand years.
Our tour begins on foot through the Canyon, a narrow winding gorge over 1 kilometer long with beautiful sandstone formations that were once occupied by the Edomites.
One of the reasons why Petra was so attractive to the Nabateans was its hiddenness behind this easily defensible canyon known as Siq. At its end lies Al Khazneh or The Great Treasury of Pharaoh, an incredible site carved out of sandstone mountain face probably in the first century BC whose purpose remains debated among scholars.
The tour continues to The Monastery, an immense structure carved out of mountain face believed to have been used for religious purposes that can be reached by climbing 800 steps.
Finally, we visit The Royal Tombs, some of Petra’s most impressive monuments carved out of solid rock and decorated with ornate facades that served as burial chambers for Nabatean royalty and high officials.
Lunch break in the city center.
Afterward we continue our tour to the hill of Al-Habis Petra fort which dates back to crusaders times, for a breathtaking panoramic view of deep gullies and uniquely colored rock formations.
Trip start by taking a coatch from Sharm El Sheikh to Nuweiba Port, which is approximately 200 km away. Once you arrive at the port, take a ferry boat for an hour and a half to Aqaba Port in Jordan.
